IKEA Ribba Picture Frame Hack

We all know and love the Ribba frames from Ikea. They are simple, chic and most importantly, affordable. But, sometimes you just want a little extra oomph. That’s where this DIY comes in. During a trip to Tulum, Mexico last year I picked up some amate art that I wanted to hang above our headboard in our bedroom and I used this technique. It’s very simple-all you need is thin fabric and adhesive. Tip: if the fabric is too thick, it will not be able to fold like you need it too.

The first thing you need to do is remove the mat that comes with the frame. Then take your fabric (cut to fit the frame with about a 2 inch allowance on each side)and attach it to the back of the frame using spray adhesive. IMG_8819

Fold the edges over and secure them with double sided tape.

Affix your art, picture, etc. to the fabric. I used double sided tape here. Assemble the picture frame and you are done!
